The Oscars have always intrigued me. Every year, millions gather around, have parties, celebrate, and watch the winners of categories, chosen by The Academy. For days afterwards, topics of conversation include best dressed, funny one liners, acceptance speeches. Winning an Oscar is an accolade like no other in Hollywood. I’ve always been intrigued by the amount of press this event gets.
This year, I want to have my own Oscars. It would be so fun to see submissions for Best Picture, Best
I took the Strengthfinders assessment by Gallup Strengths Center this past week. You can find it here. (www.strengthfinderscenter.com) It helps you discover where you operate best in your family, workplace, and the world around you. I highly recommend it if you haven’t taken it. Insightful is an understatement.
One of my strength themes is called Futuristic. It means that I’m a visionary at heart. I’m always about 10 steps ahead of where I’m standing. And sometimes it’s hard for me to
Haiti, September, 2014.
She looked across the table at the three of us and said “I’m trying to decide how we will get into Jubilee today”…hmm?
Why is this even a question, I thought? I mean really, how many ways are there to get there? Car, walk…?? She continued, “We can take tap-taps or motos…” Before I could stop it, it was already out of my mouth, “I am NOT riding one of those things!” Wow, I didn’t mean to say that out loud! I have traveled to many places alone and I am not easily
How do you show love?
I show love by cooking. I enjoy cooking. My kids think I am a good cook. When they ask me the secret to cooking a great meal, my answer is always that I add love. Sometimes that backfires. It’s happened more than once that while sitting at the table, I’ve been asked if I forgot to add the love. I will admit that not every meal can be my best but I do make every meal with love. I pray as I cook. Like most moms, I pour myself into making sure my family is
Eli: "Dad, Were there colors in 2001?"
Mark: "Yeah, there were colors in 2001."
E: "Were there colors in 2000?"
E: "Were there colors when you were a kid?"
Mark: "Yes, Eli, there have always been colors."
E: "Well, then how come on TV it seems like it was real and there weren't any colors?"
Ha! This exchange was overheard many years ago between my husband and our youngest son. Aren't kids funny? It is so difficult to grasp that which we cannot see. TV shows were black
The color of the year. Marsala. For some reason, it makes me feel like eating...(chicken marsala anyone?!)
I do love the color. It’s a beautiful mix of red with a hint of blue…very nice. How much can you use a color before you go overboard? Do you just dress or accessorize with it? Do you decorate your house with it?
I have a very good friend who, growing up, loved the color purple. When you looked at her, you saw purple. She wore purple most days, her purse and book bag were purple,
Sunday night, Sarah and I had the opportunity to go hear author, blogger, speaker and friend, Annie F. Downs. Man. If you haven't, you need to catch up with her!She is hilarious, lovely, and beautifully in love with her maker. She inspires by telling stories. Her story. Sure, she tells really funny stories about other people but she sticks to the one she knows the best - her own. She encourages teenage girls, loves on moms, and point singles towards their Heavenly Father. Here is her

The Fritchman Family October 2010
So, we are a happy family of 5 tonight all sleeping in one bed!! Yikes!! It's only midnight so we'll see if this lasts all night long :) Don't worry there is a full-size mattress on the floor but for some reason.....there are 5 in the bed.
We have had a fabulous time!
Living in a coastal community has tons of perks as you can imagine. My favorite part about living on a small island here in south Georgia is crossing the causeway to reach our little piece of the world. I love driving over the ocean, watching the sun glisten on the waves, and smelling the saltwater in the air. It’s close to heaven for me.
But as I reach our island, I turn onto another marsh filled causeway towards the northern part of the island. Frequently, I find a large white heron along
It’s so easy to go to our favorite stores and buy what we know. But do we know where our money goes when we do that? Do we know where the products we buy are coming from? To some it may not matter.
It has been said that every time you spend money, you are casting a vote for the kind of world you want.
We believe this to be true. So, we’ve put together a list of why we think it’s important to consider buying ethically (which could include fair trade).
