If you are unfamiliar with how the 107 business model works, our mission as it relates to those in developing countries is to further the reach of Organizations that are working with artisans. What does that mean? Well, we have a heart for working with artisans – it’s their families lives we want to see made better. These artisans have been identified as having a special gift or talent and they are using it to make an honest living. In many cases, they weren’t doing this before. We want to
Our mission is to sell the goods of our artisans and partner organizations so as to further their reach. We are working with organizations that are developing artisans – in art and life. These artisans are able to provide for their families with dignity and potentially break a cycle of poverty before them. In addition to providing for their family’s basic needs, they are able to sow seeds into their children – of hard work, dignity, respect…seeds that will yield a generation of wealth in
Mothers. We all have that in common. Everyone has a mother. Whether we’ve had a good experience or a bad experience, we all have one. Some of our mothers brought us up, some of them let us down. But most of them did the best they could with what they had. Some of us are mothers. As hard as we try to bring our kids up right, we will all let them down at some point, somehow. Thankfully, there is grace!
It has been my experience that motherhood brings connection. Connection between women
What a difference a year can make. A year ago, this company wasn’t even on my radar. The concept had never even entered my mind. Looking back though, I can see how it was in the works though, long before I ever knew. I was being prepared. Amy was being prepared. We were being educated. Skills were being honed. Relationships were being built. Hearts were becoming tender and eyes were being opened. Amy and I haven’t known each other very long. We actually met on an airplane. We found
Knowing that I am part of a plan. Having seen the vision, yet being flexible as I walk the journey is hard. It’s much easier for me to create the path in my mind and try to stick to it. However, to be flexible allows me the joy of seeing the beauty of the things God has in store for me along the way. Things I never could have imagined! So thankful for these gifts he is giving as I learn to yield to his spirit and learn to be flexible.Be flexible. That’s good stuff.
Spring has sprung! There are flowers everywhere and the beauty of spring is abundant! The various shades of green, the vibrant colors of daffodils, tulips, azaleas, wisteria…it’s all so enchanting.
Tis the season for planting! Everyone I know is planting a garden of some sort. Be it a vegetable garden or a flower garden – seeds are in the ground and small plants are starting to grow. It’s so interesting to me that we all feel this need to participate in spring in this way. In this season
This past fall, Sarah and I had the joy and privilege of visiting Kathy and Beaver Brooks in Jubilee, Haiti. We were able to meet the artisans that craft many of the goods that we sell here at 107 Market Street. To look them in the eye and tell them that we plan to work hard on their behalf was humbling at best. Here are some exciting ways that skilled training mixed with natural talent and sustainable income are affecting these people and their families:Emanise was able to put in a
Since I’ve been working with 107, I don’t travel as much as I used to. It’s been about 4 months since I’ve flown someplace and since then, a lot has changed! I’ve dropped down in airline priority status, lost TSA Pre-Check status, expired my Sky Club membership…my first day back traveling this week was a sad one! Waiting in all the lines, not boarding the plane first, having a slim chance at upgrade... And even onboard, they are serving Starbucks – in paper cups now (I believe I remember
